School-Based Therapy Team Takes on Remote Learning

Adapting to change

With school districts closing around the country, many have turned to online distance learning for their students. This also includes accounting for students who receive special education services, including occupational therapy, physical therapy, and applied-behavioral therapy. This shift has resulted in our own therapists developing and implementing a new remote learning curriculum for these students in a very short period of time. Because of social distancing restrictions, not only are the learning programs remote, but the planning going into creating each of the programs also had to be coordinated remotely.

Thanks to their experience and flexibility, our school-based therapy (SBT) team has been able to successfully re-imagine the way they operate and deliver care, with limited resources and time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While most school districts remain in the planning stage of a remote learning approach, our SBT team has been able to effectively implement distance learning programs in several school districts–ensuring that the students they serve are able to continue to access needed support and services during this difficult time. This incredible achievement is a direct reflection of the dedication, hard work, and commitment each of our therapists share to their mission in serving children in our communities.

Thank you for going above and beyond in this time of need.
