Going Above and Beyond for Those in Need
Constellation’s Massachusetts home health team was recently recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Premier Performer” for achieving an overall patient satisfaction score that ranked in the top 5%. This recognition is particularly difficult to achieve as it requires a significant amount of patient feedback. We are extremely thankful to have such compassionate and caring employees that truly go above and beyond to serve the individuals in our care. Below is an example of how the Massachusetts team earned this accomplishment.
In Newburyport, Massachusetts, a homebound individual had no support beyond Constellation’s home health services. His family was not close to assist him with out-of-the-house errands such as filling his prescriptions, shopping for food, etc. Due to the circumstances, it was not uncommon for nurses on duty to arrange for someone to go to the store and pick up food and his needed medication. Although this is out of the scope of responsibility for nurses, the team does what it takes for those they care for, especially if it’s a matter of preventing those individuals from returning to the hospital.
“The clinicians go above and beyond and make sure the patient has what they need down to the smallest things like toilet paper,” said Kim Arsenault, Constellation MA Manager.
The home health team constantly navigates complicated situations, creatively finding ways to meet the individual’s needs. They take on the responsibility of those needs—regardless of their job title—when they are the only solution.
Arsenault said that the team has been hand-picked, each of them bringing unique qualifications through their personal clinical experiences. Strong communication among team members and conscientiousness of each other and the individuals they care for ensures high-patient satisfaction. With an understanding that home care can be invasive, each clinician is aware of creating a compassionate and comfortable atmosphere for their patients.
To our patients: “We hear your needs, and we are going to do whatever we can to make them happen,” Arsenault said.
